With Sprint IP Relay SMusing AIM, you can place or receive a call from any Internet connection with a computer or wireless device that has AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) access. In addition, Voice to AIM allows you to conduct a converstation in the same manner with a hearing caller. This is a free service that combines traditional relay service with the simplicity and convenience of the Internet.
Simply point your browser to www.sprintip.com and begin typing your conversation to a Sprint Relay operator. If you have AOL Instant Messenger on your computer, BlackBerry, Treo or Sidekick device here are simple and convenient steps to access SprintIP via AIM:
Go to AIM® and send an IM to the screen name"SprintIP"
Save "SprintIP" in your Buddy list
Type Espanol to connect with a Spanish relay operator
Type Help to connect to Sprint Relay Customer Service.
Let the operator read aloud your typed conversation to the caller and type your caller's conversation back to you.
To Place a Voice to AIM call to a hearing caller:
The AIM user must first go to the SprintIP on AIM®(www.aim.com) and type "Register" to begin receiving calls from hearing callers.
A hearing caller dials a toll-free number 877-866-8057 (English) or 877-866-8059 (Spanish)that is answered by a Sprint Relay operator.
The hearing caller provides the AIM screename of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing person to the Sprint Relay operator.
If the AIM user is online, the opertor will connect the two parties and begin relaying the conversation.
If the AIM caller is away or unavailable to receive the call, the hearing caller will be able to leave a brief message through the Sprint Relay operator while online.
You will not be charged for a long distance or local call but international calling is not allowed.
